Recipients of the fourth annual Distinguished Diversity Leaders Awards were honored recently at a breakfast ceremony in Palmer Commons.  Two of the individual recipients, Trey Boynton and Joshua Peipock, work in University Housing.

The award recognizes individual staff members and teams for their accomplishments, and provides a monetary prize — $1,000 for individuals, $2,500 for teams — to be used toward professional development activities. Staff members on all campuses and in the U-M Health System are eligible.

MESA/Trotter's 18th annual Taste of Culture was a great way to start the semester! Held at the Trotter Multicultural Center, the event showcased a variety of cultural restaurants from South-East Michigan. Approximately 900 members of the University of Michigan and Ann Arbor communities enjoyed free food from local restaurants such as Jamaican Jerk Pit, Los Amigos, and Eastern Flame -- just to name a few.

Rollin Johnson Jr., director of community partnerships at the Ginsberg Center, received the Franklin H. Williams Award for his service in the Peace Corps. Discussing the work he did in Nepal and Burkina Faso, Rollin said, "This changed my life and how I see our country and the rest of the world."

Rollin was presented with the Franklin H. Williams Award on Sept. 20 at a ceremony in Washington, D.C.
